How do historians learn about the past?

The first step of all of the historians is gather a variety of sources, primary or secondary. Primary sources are the ones that were written while the event happened and secondary sources are the ones that were written after the event happened. Their second step is to categorize their sources into written and non-written. Written sources are the books, the magazines, diaries, poems... and non written sources are the fossils, the artifacts, the tombs, the monuments... The third and the most difficult in my opinion step  is to evaluate their sources. And for to evaluate them they have to ask the five Ws, who, what, where, why and when. Their fourth step is to interpret their information. And the last one is to share with other archaeologists their findings/ theories.
The job that an archaeologist do is really difficult in my opinion and they have to be really careful with their theories.
